Erica's mission was to give back to her community and to drive the educational experience of students helping them fulfill their dream and most importantly having the opportunity, which is not always realized for students. Her foundation has created an educational scholarship in her honor to help graduating seniors achieve this goal and be a shining star.
Why We Do What We DO:
While many students dream of obtaining a college degree, life sometimes gets in the way – particularly for those dealing with personal responsibilities at home or in their communities. The Dr. Erica Lynn Slater Foundation, recognizes students who have overcome significant obstacles to pursue their educations. In turn, these scholars serve as positive role models and change the trajectories for their families, friends and their communities.
Below are the guidelines for the scholarship submission. All applications and supplemental information should be uploaded through the upload feature below. We will review all applications and correspond with you if additional details are needed.
Scholarship Guidelines:
Your personal statement (no more than 3 double-spaced pages) should be organized according to the following headings, in this order:
Autobiography: Provide a brief personal history (1-2 paragraphs)
Justification: State the reasons why you are a qualified candidate for a scholarship and how you will be impacted if chosen.
Describe your involvement in any extracurricular activities that you participate in your High School.
Volunteer Efforts: Describe your involvement in service activities in your Community, High School or Church.
Provide your current (official transcript). A GPA of 3.5 or higher is required to apply for this scholarship.
